GREETINGS FROM THE DISTRICT DIRECTOR
To Be An Alpha man, a beloved poem by Brother Fred H. Woodruff, states “To be an Alpha man means more than just to wear a pin. It requires intrinsic qualities that are developed deep within, It calls for lasting brotherhood, a word sometimes used in vain, it means an honest devotion, not anticipation of personal gain…
On behalf of the District of Wisconsin Leadership, it is our pleasure to present you with the Official Convention Call for the 20th Wisconsin District Conference to be held November 15 - 17, 2019 at The Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel & Convention Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The District Conference Team has labored to ensure that Wisconsin’s District Conference will be relevant, adds value to your Alpha maturation and development, and provides an enjoyable fraternal experience.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Alpha Men, Develop From Within III!”
I am devoted to Alpha men of the District of Wisconsin’s on-going development as relevant, transparent and acquiescent leaders who understand and engage in the motto of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All! We will present a thorough assessment of our beloved Ritual and its relevance in our life-long brotherhood. We shall glean on the rich diversity of wisdom, nobility and Alpha character that lies within the brotherhood. Alumni and College Alpha men will present thought provoking TED Talk style workshops designed to be beneficial to becoming the best human, the best man, the best colleague and the best Alpha man possible in every walk our lives. In addition, Bro. Victor Gray will host the second “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” interview on Sunday morning.
The presentation of the chartering applications for a Northeastern Wisconsin alumni chapter and a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh college chapter will be unveiled. In addition, college brothers party on the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh campus in Reeves Union happens Friday night. The Alumni Social will feature local comedian Carl Strong and the soulful sounds of Alpha’s own Big Poppa Boogie Band on Saturday night.
Alpha Phi Alpha develops leaders and promotes brotherhood. Listening, learning and applying best practices acquired from the fraternity and each other makes us better Alpha men. “So take an honest inventory of your character within, and for every virtue you find missing, try and weave it in. For a man without these virtues isn't worth a grain of sand. It's plain to see, it's more than just a pin, that makes an Alpha man!
Come, celebrate and reengage with the House of Alpha!
